Kemmer Advances and Miller Completes Strong Rookie Season

Dodge Kemmer (2009) joined former teammate Joe Bramlett (2010) and fellow alum Alex Aragon (2000) as those to advance to the second stage of PGA Tour Qualifying School via first stage. Kemmer carded rounds of 74-71-70-70 good for a 3 under total and tied for 6th finish at Oak Valley Golf Club in Beaumont, CA. The top 22 finishers advanced.

Zack Miller (2007) completed a successful rookie season on the Nationwide Tour this weekend at the Tour Championship in South Carolina. Even though Miller's 56th place finish on the money list fell short of a 2011 PGA Tour Card or exemption into the final stage of qualifying school, he earned an exemption into the second stage and is assured fully exempt status on the Nationwide Tour next year. Miller's total earnings on the Nationwide Tour in 2010 were $121,650.

Miller Makes Charge and Tour Qualifying School Update

Zack Miller (2007) fired a second round 69 to charge 23 spots up the leaderboard at the season ending Nationwide Tour Championship at Daniel Island in Charleston, South Carolina. Currently 55th on the money list, Miller will most likely need at least a third place or higher finish to jump inside the top 25 on the money list and secure his 2011 PGA Tour card. If not Miller will be exempt into the final stage of the PGA Tour qualifying school if inside the top 40 on the money list at weekend's end. Miller is assured an exemption into the second stage if he remains outside the top 40.

In other news, Joe Bramlett (2010) and Alex Aragon (2000) successfully made it through the first stage of qualifying school at Carlton Oaks in Santee, CA. Rob Grube (2008) finished outside the cut line at Carlton Oaks as did Joel Kribel (1999) at the Club at Irish Creek in North Carolina.

Dodge Kemmer (2009) is currently tied for 14th with two rounds remaining in the first stage event at Oak Valley Golf Club in Beaumont, CA. The top 22 and ties will move onto the second stage.

Miller and the Money List

With two Nationwide Tour events remaining in 2010, there is a lot at stake for tour rookie Zack Miller (2007). Miller is currently 52nd on the money list heading into this week's
Winn Dixie Jacksonville Open in Ponte Vedra Beach. It will more than likely take two consecutive top 5 finishes for Miller to jump inside the top 25 and secure a 2011 PGA Tour Card. However, players who finish inside the top 40 are exempt into the finals of the PGA Tour Qualifying School. Players inside the top 60 are guaranteed a spot in the Nationwide Tour Championship and are fully exempt on the Nationwide Tour in 2011 if they do no qualify for the PGA Tour through qualifying school. Joseph Bramlett ('10) receives sponsor's exemption to PGA Tour's Fry's Open

Frys.com Open Tournament Director Ian Knight announced today that Stanford graduate and Saratoga, Calif. resident, Joseph Bramlett, will receive the fifth sponsor exemption for the 2010 Frys.com Open. Knight will hand out a total of eight sponsor exemptions for the tournament, scheduled to be played, October 11-17 at CordeValle in San Martin, Calif.
“Bramlett is certainly a promising local talent with a bright future ahead,” said Knight, “His achievements while at Stanford and his appearance as an amateur in the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach certainly speak to his talent and character as a player. We look forward to watching him compete.”
Although the 22-year-old Bramlett missed the cut by five shots at the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach, he tied for 5th among the 12 amateurs in the field, and had an opportunity to play a practice round with fellow Stanford grad, Tiger Woods. Bramlett was a five-time U.S. Amateur qualifier, including 2002 at Oakland Hills where he was the youngest qualifier in the championship’s history at age 14. He was an All-American his freshman year at Stanford, when he helped lead the Cardinal to an NCAA title. Injuries to his wrist marred the remains of his career at Stanford, but he is now at 100 percent physically.  Read the complete press release about the tournament from the PGA Tour.

Miller Notches Top 15 Finish

Zack Miller (2007) finished tied for 11th after rounds of 68, 69, 69, 67 at the Nationwide Tour's Chattanooga Classic in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Miller's 15 under par performance garnered $10,600 in earnings increasing his season total on the tour to $115,850, good for the 46th position on the money list. With three events remaining Miller will most likely require either a victory or multiple top 5 finishes to climb inside the top 25 on the money list and earn a coveted 2011 PGA Tour card.

Miller makes his next start in Miami, Florida at the Miccosukee Championship that has a total purse of $600,000.
