Miller Makes A Move

After a few slow weeks and a couple of missed cuts, Zack Miller (2007) regained form as the Nationwide Tour enters its most pivotal stretch. Miller strung together rounds of 67, 69, 65 and 69 at the Albertsons Boise Open for a 14 under total and a 13th place finish. A $14,500 check increased his 2010 earnings to $105,250 and allowed him to jump from 53rd place on the money list to 44th. The top 25 on the Nationwide Tour money list automatically earn 2011 PGA Tour cards. Miller has 6 events remaining to climb the 19 spots necessary to earn his first PGA Tour card. If he fails to do so his quest will continue at the Tour's grueling qualifying school.

Zack Miller Posts Solid Final Round on Nationwide Tour

The Nationwide Tour lit up the Champions Run golf course at the Cox Classic in Omaha, Nebraska. Zack Miller (2007) could not quite build the momentum necessary to get into serious contention after rounds of 68, 68 and 71. With a strong 6 under 65 on Sunday, Miller jumped 14 spots to finish in 41st place at 12 under, 11 shots behind winner Martin Piller.

With earnings this week of $3,060, Miller fell three spots on the money list from 45 to 48. He will look to resume his move up the money list at this coming week's Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open in Wichita, Kansas.

Strong Play from Rob Grube and Zack Miller

Rob Grube (2008) quickly took advantage of the invite into the PGA Tour's Canadian Open after opening with consecutive 4 under par rounds of 66 to jump within 2 shots of the lead. Although rounds of 72 and 71 on the weekend took him out of contention, Grube's 5 under total for the event was good for a 37th place finish, a $19,890 check and a plethora of experience to draw on in his budding professional career.

Zack Miller (2007) also turned in a strong finish this week on the Nationwide Tour. Miller's four round total of 280 (-4) garnered a 12th place finish and a $16,960 check at the Nationwide Children's Hospital Invitational. Miller increased his 2010 earnings to $76,533 and improved his position on the money list from 50 to 45. At year's end the top 25 on the money list earn a 2011 PGA Tour Card.

Also competing this past week was Jordan Cox (2010). In his second event on the eGolf Professional Tour, Cox turned in a 50th place finish after a four round total of 284 (-4) in the Forest Oaks Classic.

Rob Grube in field at PGA Tour's RBC Canadian Open

Rob Grube (2008) qualified for the PGA Tour's RBC Canadian Open through his 2010 play on the Canadian Tour. He will join the likes of Canadian favorite and former Masters champion, Mike Weir. You may follow his progress on www.pgatour.com/leaderboard.

Rob Grube currently sits 5th on the Canadian Tour's Order of Merit with $40,036 in earnings. In last week's The Players Cup, Grube battled back from an opening round 75 with rounds of 67, 66 and 68 for a 4th place finish at 9 under. Jim Seki (2003) finished at 2 under for the tournament good for 31st place.

Miller and Seki Finish Top 25

Zack Miller (2007) fired a final round 67 (-4) to climb 8 spots on the leaderboard for T17 finish in Nationwide Tour's Ford Wayne Gretzky Classic. After rounds of 62, 73, 69, 67 (-14) Miller finished 10 shots behind former Pac-10 rival and California Bear standout, Peter Tomasulo. With his finish Miller jumped 5 spots on the Natiowide Tour money list from 50 to 45 with $59,573 in 2010 earnings. Also competing was Rob Grube (2008) who failed to make the weekend missing the cut after rounds of 72 and 67.

Jim Seki (2003) also carded a top 25 finish at the Canadian Tour's Dakota Dunes Casino Open. Heading into the final day 3 shots behind the leader after rounds of 68, 65 and 67, Seki could not capture the same momentum in closing with a 1-over 73 for a T23 finish.

Zack Miller will continue his pursuit to climb up the money list in next week's Chiquita Classic in Ohio. Rob Grube is slated to join Jim Seki in the field at the Canadian Tour's Players Cup in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Zack Miller Earns Career High Finish Plus Other News

In last week's Fort Smith Classic Zack Miller (2007) tied for 3rd good for a career high finish on the Nationwide Tour. More importantly, Miller earned a $25,200 check that vaulted him from 79th on the money list to 48th with a 2010 total of $47,972. At season's end the top 25 on the money list qualify for a 2011 PGA Tour card. Miller aims to carry his strong play into this week's Mexico Open Bicentenary at El Bosque Golf Club in Mexico. In other alumni news, newly minted Stanford grad, Joseph Bramlett (2010), missed the cut by four shots in last week's dramatic U.S. Open at Pebble Beach. Although Bramlett did not join former Stanford stars, Tiger Woods and Tom Watson, for weekend play, it was an experience he will not soon forget as he embarks on his own career.

Rob Grube (2008) finished tied for 29th in the eGolf Professional Tour's Bolle Classic. Between the Canadian Tour and eGolf Professional Tour, Grube has earned over $43,000 in 2010. Grube's next start will be at the ATB Financial Classic in Edmonton, Alberta where another Cardinal alum, Jim Seki (2003), will be in the field.

Former Stanford Players Compete Across Country

Many eyes will be on recent grad Joseph Bramlett (2010, pictured left), as he joins the two most famous former Stanford standouts, Tom Watson (pictured right) and Tiger Woods, in the 2010 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach. Miller, who is currently 79th on the Nationwide's money list, tees it up in the Fort Smith Classic in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Grube is already underway this week opening with a 1-under par 70 in the 1st round of the eGolf Professional Tour's Bolle Classic in Lexington, North Carolina.
